Carbon offset tree
Living in the 21st century has an environmental price. Our response, our own tree reserve in the Amazon basin.
Living in the 21st century has an environmental price. Our response, our own tree reserve in the Amazon basin. We ask you to join us in reducing our collective carbon footprints by planting a tree on our reserve. Not only will you help the environment, you will help the local economy in this vibrant and beautiful part of the world.
AIMS
Human activity is mainly responsible for the rapid acceleration in Global Warming. “What is Global Warming?” Global Warming is the name given by scientists for the gradual increase in the Earth’s surface temperature which has worsened since the industrial revolution.
What if we do nothing ? Rising global temperatures will cause sea level to rise and alter local climate conditions, affecting forests, crop yields, and water supplies. It may also affect human health, animals, and many types of ecosystems. Deserts may expand and some of our countryside may be permanently altered.
There are countless things that we can do to offset our collective Carbon Footprints. However we have chosen our challenge as it directly relates to our personal and professional lives.
To offset our Carbon contribution caused by taking flights by asking you to help us plant 1,000 trees by June 2010 and a further 1,000 trees by June 2011.
To offset our collective Carbon contributions caused by using our cars and fossil fuels to heat our homes.
We cannot avoid having a Carbon Footprint but we can take steps to offset it. Tree planting is one of the most common form of carbon offset. Trees absorb carbon dioxide and produce oxygen and wood, both of which are very useful for humans and other animals.
